1887 W. S. Kimball Champions N184

Seeing the popularity of other tobacco card issues of the time, the W. S. Kimball tobacco company of Rochester, NY, issued a 50-card set devoted to various sports and recreations in 1887. The cards measure 1-1/2"x2-3/4" in size. The proper title for the issue is Champions of Game and Sport.

The card fronts feature a color lithograph portrait of the player comprising the top 2/3, with the bottom 1/3 made up of a themed illustration. The card backs offer a list of the sports and activities covered by the set, along with an advertisement for Kimball. The cards are unnumbered.

There are only four baseball players in this set. They are:
- E. A. Burch
- Dell Darling
- Hardie Henderson
- James O'Neil

There was also an album issued to display the set.
