1910-1911 T3 Turkey Red Cabinets

Turkey Red cabinet baseball cards were issued by mail order through coupons found in Turkey Red, Fez, and Old Mill cigarette brands. The set contains 100 cabinet cards, each measuring 5-3/4"x8".

The card fronts feature a color lithograph of the player, surrounded by a faux gray matte. The player's last name and team city are shown in a faux-metal gold plate at bottom center. Card backs featured either a list of the cards available in the set, or a full-back advertisement. Some of the player-listing backs have ordering information for obtaining more cards.

The series actually consists of 100 baseball players and 25 boxers, although the price for the set total usually accounts for only the baseball players.

The first 50 baseball player cards and the boxers were issued in 1910, with the remaining 50 baseball issued in 1911, according to contemporary advertisements. There are no price differences between common cards of either high or low numbers.

Prominent players in the set include Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, Tris Speaker, Cy Young, and Walter Johnson.
