1921 Koester Bread Baseball Cards
The 1921 Koester Bread baseball card set was issued by E. H. Koester, a New York bakery. There are 52 cards in the set, making up 2 sets each of the Yankees and the Giants. The cards measure 2"x3-1/4".
The card fronts feature a black and white photo of the player or manager, with his name, position, and team at the bottom. Backs are blank and the cards are unnumbered.
The 1921 World Series was the first for the then-fledgling New York Yankees, and that year they took on local rivals the Giants. Since both teams were based in New York, it was referred to as a 'subway series.'
The cards in this set are similar to ones found in the American Caramel (ACC E121) set of that year; but this set contains half as many cards as the other, and contains several players that do not appear in the other set.
An album was issued for this set; it is relatively rare.
