1933 Goudey Sport Kings

The 1933 Sport Kings set was released by Goudey Gum and is designated R338 in the American Card Catalog.

The set totals 48 cards, each measuring 2-3/8"x2-7/8".

This is a famous card set that features athletes from 18 different sports, including baseball, football, and boxing. Goudey also produced a regular baseball card set that year.

The card fronts show a color photo of the athlete, with his name at the bottom and a small silhouette cartoon devoted to the particular sport; and the words SPORT KINGS GUM run along the top. Card backs feature a paragraph devoted to the athlete's career.

There are only three baseball players in the set: Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Carl Hubbell.

In addition, the set features such notable athletes as 'Red' Grange, Jack Dempsey, Johnny Weissmuller, Knute Rockne, and Primo Carnera.
