1934-1936 Diamond Stars
National Chicle, known more for their non-sports trading card sets, produced the Diamond Stars series of baseball cards between 1934 and 1936 in several series. There are 108 cards total, each measuring 2-3/8"x2-7/8".
Card fronts feature color artwork of the player (taken from an actual photograph) against a cartoony baseball-themed background, with his name superimposed over the image and a white border along the edges. Card backs have the set title and card number along the top, followed by a paragraph of text consisting of either a biography of the pictured player, or information on how to improve one's game.
The year of issue of any given card can be difficult to determine, although some are definitely known (and prominent pricing guides and grading services indicate which); if unsure, the best bet is for a collector to consult a knowledgeable resource. The different year-variations for certain players can determine wide variations in price.
Prices for the card set total usually do not include the higher-priced variations.
