1934 Goudey Baseball Cards
In 1934 Goudey released their second regular baseball card set. The American Card Catalog designation is R320.The set consists of 96 cards, each measuring 2-3/8"x2-7/8".
Card fronts feature a color photo reproduction of the player, against a color background with baseball-themed cartoon silhouettes, and the player's name inset.
Card fronts for this set have two variations: along the bottom of each is a blue strip; the more popular variation has a small picture of Lou Gehrig and the words 'Lou Gehrig says...', while the other variation features the same setup but with player George Klein. Card backs have a player biography, which is supposed to have been written by either Gehrig or Klein.
Albums to hold the set were offered by mail order for 50 wrappers from Goudey, or were reportedly given to customers who bought the last pack in each high-number box.
Prominent players in this set include Gehrig, Klein, Jimmy Foxx, Jerome 'Dizzy' Dean, and Henry 'Hank' Greenberg.
