1948 Bowman Baseball Cards
Bowman Gum Company produced their first baseball card set in 1948; it was one of the first important baseball releases after World War II.The set was composed of 48 cards, each measuring 2-1/16"x2-1/2".
The card fronts were crude enough: black-and-white photographs with no caption or numbering, with a white border around the edges of the card.
Card backs featured the card number and player name at the top, followed by player's basic stats and a paragraph describing his career. At the bottom was the Bowman company's address and an advertisement for Blony bubble gum.
Some of the cards appear to have been short-printed, leading to scarcity and higher prices.
Prominent players in this set include Ralph Kiner, Yogi Berra, Bob Feller, Warren Spahn, and Stan Musial.
