1954 Dan-Dee Potato Chips Baseball Cards
In 1954, the Dan-Dee company inserted baseball cards into bags of their potato chips. As one can imagine, many existing cards from this set contain grease stains from the chips, despite their being waxed. Nevertheless, this is an attractive and valuable baseball card set.
The set consists of 29 unnumbered cards, each measuring 2-1/2"x3-5/8".
Card fronts feature a tinted color photo with the player name along the bottom, with a small Dan-Dee logo. Card backs featured basic player data and a paragraph about the player's career.
The set consists mostly of players from the Indians and the Pirates, probably due to the fact that the chips were regionally distributed and thus this is a regional issue.
Photos of the Yankee players in this set were also used for the Briggs Meats and Stahl-Meyer Franks baseball card sets.
Prominent players in this set include Mickey Mantle, Gil Hodges, and Bob Feller.
