1955 Topps Baseball Cards
The 1955 Topps baseball card set consisted of 206 cards, each measuring 2-5/8"x3-3/4". This is the smallest regular-issue set Topps has produced.The 1955 Topps set features horizontal card fronts, as opposed to the more traditional vertical. Also, the card fronts closely resemble those of the 1954 set, with the dual-player photo and solid-color backgrounds; and, in fact, many player photos are duplicated between the two.
The set was scheduled to have 210 cards, but for some reason numbers 175, 186, 203, and 209 were never produced (causing confusion among early collectors looking to complete a full set numerically).
The more expensive high-number cards in this set begin with #161.
