1958 Topps Baseball Cards
The 1958 Topps baseball card set was the largest to date, with 494 cards. (Note: there was no card #145 due to player Ed Bouchee being suspended from baseball.)This was the first Topps set to include All-Star cards, 20 of them here. This allowed for more popular players to have more than one card within the set.
For the first time, with this set Topps placed checklists on the backs of the team photo cards, making them a regular part of the sets from this point onward.
Thirty-three cards between numbers #2 and #108 exist with the typeface on the front of the card in either white or yellow; the yellow-text cards are considered harder to find and are thus much more expensive. The yellow-text card prices are not included in the regular full set price.
Prominent players in this set include Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Roger Maris (rookie), Bob Clemente, Al Kaline, Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax, and Orlando Cepeda (rookie).
