1966 Topps Baseball Cards
The 1966 Topps baseball card set again contained 598 cards total.Card fronts featured a large color player photograph, with player name and position in a color band at the bottom, and a thin horizontal banner at the top left containing the team name. Card backs featured the usual mix of career statistics, brief career highlights, cartoon panel, etc.
Specialty cards for the 1966 baseball set included team rookie cards, statistical leaders, even a handful of team manager cards.
Some player cards in this set exist in two forms - with or without a 'trade statement,' indicating that the player had been traded after their photograph had been taken but before the card went to press. Cards without the statement are considered more valuable.
Again, some cards in the high numbers (#523-598) of this set were short-printed, leading to their being more scarce and thus more expensive.
Prominent players in this set include Willie Mays, Pete Rose, Mickey Mantle, Jim Palmer (rookie), Frank Robinson, Bob Clemente, Roger Maris, Hank Aaron, Al Kaline, and Bobby Murcer (rookie).
