1968 Topps Baseball Cards

The 1968 Topps baseball card set returned to a set total of 598 cards.

1968 Topps baseball Card fronts featured a color player photograph within a round-cornered border which appeared to be a faux-burlap pattern. The player name was given at bottom center with position and team name within a colored circle at the bottom right.

Card backs remained vertical, but with a cleaner design that put player career statistics in the center, topped by a short paragraph, with a cartoon at the bottom.

Specialty cards included the usual World Series highlights, rookie cards, statistical leaders, and a return of the All-Star cards.

Some checklists from this set are thought to be double-printed.

Some cards in this set feature the team name on the front of the card in both white and yellow lettering. For whatever reason, the yellow-lettering variations are considered more scarce and desirable by collectors, and command much higher prices than the white-lettered ones. These prices are not reflected within the regular set total price.

Prominent players in this set include Nolan Ryan (rookie), Tom Seaver, Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, Pete Rose, Johnny Bench (rookie), Mickey Mantle, and Roger Maris.
