1976 Topps Baseball
Topps returned to a more traditional design with its 1976 baseball card set. There were again 660 cards total.
Card fronts featured a large photo of the player, surrounded by a thin colored line, which was in turn inside white border along the card edges. At the base of the card was the player's name, position, and team in two colored bands, with a small cartoon of a baseball player to the left, inline.
Card backs featured the information in a green background, with the card number inside a baseball shape against an elongated cartoon bat. The player's name was held in a ribbon shape at the top, followed by biographical information, career statistics, and (if room) a paragraph of text.
Specialty cards in this set included statistical leaders, Record Breakers, playoff and World Series highlights, cards devoted to Sporting News All-Time All-Stars, and father/son cards depicting family members who have both played in the major leagues.
Prominent players in this set include George Brett, Dennis Eckersley (rookie), Dave Winfield, Pete Rose, Carl Yastrzemski, Robin Yount, Nolan Ryan, Mike Schmidt, Reggie Jackson, Hank Aaron, Tom Seaver, and Thurmon Munson.
