1971-1972 Topps Basketball Cards
The Topps basketball set for 1971-72 consisted of 233 cards, another expansion after the previous years' sets of 99 and 176 cards each. This year's cards reverted to the more traditional 2-1/2"x3-1/2" size, which would remain the case (more or less) for years to come. Subsets included NBA championship play-by-play cards, as well as statistical leaders (but no All-Stars).
Rookies in this set include Tiny Archibald, Bob Lanier, and Rick Barry. Second-year players include Pete Maravich, Calvin Murphy, Jo Jo White, and Bob Dandridge. This set also contains the last regular-issue card of Elgin Baylor.
This was also the set that included the first players from the newly-assimilated ABA: Dan Issel, Rick Mount, and especially Rick Barry, among others.
