Revell Beatles Model Kits

Revell Beatles John Paul George Ringo model kits Revell produced a series of model kits devoted to the Beatles in 1964. They apparently beat rival Aurora to the punch in obtaining the license to the group's likenesses - Revell was known much more for their kits of automobiles, planes, and battleships than characters; that's where Aurora excelled. There was also a kit devoted to the Yellow Submarine animated film, by Craftmaster.

This kit followed in the wave of near-hysteria that followed the Beatles' appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, when they became instant household names in America. A healthy amount of merchandising resulted, which included lunchboxes, bubblegum cards, figurines, etc. The group broke up in 1971; John Lennon died in 1980, George Harrison in 2001.

Today, all four models, unbuilt and still in the original boxes, command about $3600 at auction.
