Space: 1999 trading cards
Donruss released their Space: 1999 trading card set in 1976. It is based upon the cult sci-fi TV show created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, and starring Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. The set contains 66 cards.
Card fronts were bordered in white, featuring a sleek, 'futuristic' design. A color photo still from the TV series was offset by a thin black line; the card number and title was superimposed over the photo in either black, white, or blue lettering. The Space: 1999 logo with a red and blue stripe was at the bottom.
Card backs were puzzle pieces.
Space: 1999 dealt with a space station on Earth's Moon, which has been hurled into outer space. The show was syndicated in the U.S. between 1975 and 1977. Although a British production, stars Martin Landau and wife Barbara Bain were American; but many British stars made appearances throughout the show's run, including Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Patrick Troughton, and Brian Blessed.
